All quiet on the Western Front.

Chapter1- The first chapter is primarily an introduction to characters such as kropp, Tjaden, Katczynsky. The boys are really beginning to bond.
Chapter2- A few boys visit Kemmerich's condition is potentially fatal but they do not transfer him to a real hospital. Erich remembers back to when kropp, muller, kemmerich, and himself went to the #9 platoon under the strict corporal himmelstoss.
Chapter3- reinforcements arrive and are introduced to the equipment, meanwhile Kat went out to explore and look for food. Kat returns with 2 bags of bread and horsemeat. With Himmelstoss being particularly mean at this point the boys decide to pull a prank on him.
Chapter4- French and British bombardments attack the front lines. Next the front goes through heavey fire, luckily though only 5 die and 8 injured.
Chapter5- Himmelstoss arrives into camp. The boys think of what they would do of there was a peace tome. Later that night Tjaden finally gets his chance to tell off himmelstoss and now faces possible prison time. We are beginning to see that Kat is superhuman to them, they love him.
Chapter6-An attack upon the front takes place. After a long bombardment the french charge which causes the boys to retreat. On a counterattack they take french area, plus are able to bring back food to their trenches.
Chapter7- In the beginning of chapter 7 Erich reviews in his thoughts that Kemmerich is dead, Haie Westhus is dying and yet he is almost happy, for all you need in war is " good food and rest." After the boys return from sneaking out for girls, Erich has recieved a leave for 17 days and tore port back to training camp. he goes home where his mother is sick.
Chapter8- Erich is back at his earlier training place, but this time there are also prisoners next to the training are. He's on guard watching the russians; Observing, he gets a respect for them and is almost becoming their friend. We learn that his mother has cancer and is now in a hospital.
Chapter9- Erich and a few others are part of a search party, but erich gets lost, and in the middle of an attack! He stabs a man while hidding in a shell hole. The man is not dead yet so Erich attempts to nurse him back to health. After a few days in the shell hole Erich makes his way back to the trench,
Chapter10- 8 guys form a team to search around an abandoned city, the team is Erich and the gang. Afterwards though Erich and albert get hurt during an attack on the city and are sent to a hospital. After awhile Kropp and Erich are healing and getting to be friends with their roomates.
Chapter11- With the freshness of american and britian soldiers, the germans are in a slow constant retreat. New deaths include leer, muller,and kat, as well as detering not being heard of after leaving. The summer of 1918 is the bloodiest and the worst Erich has seen so far.
Chapter12- It is August, Erich is the last of his his friends, the last of his classmates. He will return home soon, but a new Erich. A more dead Erich with less purpose then ever before, atleast that's what he believes.

martian chronicles

The Martian Chronicles

Chapter1- The weather is warm on earth in ohio as a rocket takes off for Mars.
Chapter2- We meet Mr. and Mrs. K; She had a dream about space men coming to Mars.
Chapter3- Paranoia ensues as martians begin singing in a language no one understands.
Chapter4-People from Earth land on Mars and meet martians, unfortunately the martians dont believe their story. The men from Earth end up in an insane asylum where Mr. XXX has them show him their rocket. Mr. XXX is still convinced they are insane even with seeing their rocket, he is convinced that the only way to cure the captian is to kill him.
Chapter5-A 3rd expidition to take off. Surprisingly some people on Earth want to go to Mars even though the first 2 expeditions failed.
Chapter6-The 3rd expedition lands on the opposite side of Mars. They land in a small town that looks like one on earth. Crew members reckognize family members and go to spend the night there, but it turns out the relatives are actually aliens and will kill them.
Chapter7- A fourth expidetion lands on Mars with a captian a little more suspectful than the last few. Part of his crew is a strange man named Mr. spender whom we find out is the last martian. This chapter so far has my favorite line which is, "Science is no more than an investigation of a miracle, and art is an interpretation of that miracle." It's one of the more beautiful lines i have ever read. After Spender killed 5 or 6 people the captian finally killed spender but not before becoming a little bit like Spender.
Chapter8-slowly people are coming to populate Mars.
Chapter9- Mr. Benjamin Driscoll was the man in charge of making more oxygen. So he planted trees and grass and, after a rainfall, the trees grew in huge.
Chapter10- 90,000 people have come so far and more expected to come soon.
Chapter11- A man named Thomas meets a martian late one night. They have a conversation and soon realize that one of them is from the past and one from the future, the just cannot tell which is which.
Chapter12- The first wave of men were men that were more independent, Mars could do nothing to them. The 2nd group, also american, seemed as if they were on their way to God.
Chapter13- People brought alot of wood to create the 10th town
Chapter14- Kids would run through the old abandoned towns before firemen would clean them.
Chapter15- We meet the teece's and silly their farm hand who has a two year working contract. Some black people plan on moving to Mars.
Chapter16- The new residents rename all the towns after missions and people. After the towns were finished they would make the cemetary's. Finally after all that work people came to take control of Mars.
Chapter17- Two men named Mr. Stedahl and Mr. Pikes made the house of usher. This house was a death trap to many people who are part of the government burning of books, movies, and any other magical or unhappy thing. Each person dies from a different death in a book they have burned, including Mr. Garrett, a government official, who died like the man from the poe book the amantillado.
Chapter18-Mr. and Mrs. lfarge are living outside a city on Mars. One day a martian transforms into their dead son. When they go into the though he changes into whatever people desire him to be. People keep making him change apperances until he dies.
Chapter19- A war is about to start on Earth.
Chapter20- Sam Parkhill is now on Mars, with his wife, and is putting into business a hotdog stand. Aliens come over and give him land to own half of mars. They also told him to be prepared, of course Sam doesn't know what that means until he sees earth aflame.
Chapter21- Everyone on Mars were sitting on their porch when they saw the explosion. Then a message came on, "Australia continent atomized in premature explosion of atomic stockpile. Los angelas, london bombed. war. Come home. Come home. Come home."
Chapter22- Walter Gripp believed that he was the last man alive until he called a beuaty salon in a different city. The woman who answered was named Genevieve. When they finally met she wasn't at all what he expected, and after a very strange day he ran away.
Chapter23- 21 years later mr. Williamson and his wife and 3 children live on. Then captian wilder returns to mars and meets up with williamson. Wilder and his crew has dinner with them and find out that williamson made robots of his family after they died. Later that night williamson himself dies.
Chapter24- August 2026 in california. Ahouse lives along with all its robotic tasks, but nobody lives there.

In the beginning chapter of the book, Barbara Ehrenreich explains that she is writer. She's written for companies such as The New York Times, for instance this book is a new york times best seller. She also says that she is mother but all her children are grown up and in adulthood. She was previously married but they got divorced and now she is living with her boyfriend.
Barbara's first job is in key west florida as a server at hearthside. She earns $2.43 per hour plus tips. At hearthsode she begins a friendship with Gail, a wiry middle-aged waitress. She learns of lots of tough times their for her coworkers, for example billy gets $ 10 an hour, lives in a trailor he owns, and is the wealthiest worker there. Only a few weeks in she is unfortunately caught eating on the job by Stu, the uptight one in change. Barbara then explains to Gail that she is going to quit. She then tries a job as a housekeeper getting paid $6.10 an hour and works from " 9 am to whenever". This job however only lasts one day.
The next job location for Barbara is in portland maine. After her search through newspaper ads, she finds a job as a dietary maid at the woodcrest residential facility. She meets a man working there named Pete. He informs Barbara that another worker named molly is a fine person to work with, but she will stab you in the back. Not exactly the kindof workplace environment you would want to work at in my opinion. Barbara next moves out of her motel 6 that she has been staying at, and moves into Blue Haven unfortunately its not as nice as she would've hoped. Barbara next works at Merry Maids a cleaning company. She earns about $200 to $250 a week for an average of 40 hours of work. Her new job is alot of tough work, cleaning, and tough rules. They cant even drink water on the job! After a bit of an outburst by barbara to holly their relationship their relationship gets much tougher, and more bitter. On her last afternoon at the maids she anounces to everyone that she is a writer and is going to write a book about her experiances. She asks her coworkers how they feel about cleaning homes for people who are rich when they have so little. The answer is a little surprising how lori and colleen arent bitter towards the rich it just makes them work harder
Barbara's next city she will work at is the twin cities in minnesota. She applies at both wal-mart and menards who take her through meetings and drug tests. Menards offers more money an hour than walmart, but 12 hour shifts are just too much for her. So she takes the job at wal-mart in the womens section picking up fallen clothes her shifts are 9 hours. As the shifts go on though she finds herself gerring meaner and meaner for example she said, "atleast you get to sit down" to a man in a wheel-chair. She finds a new place at the comfort inn and for $5.05 less per day than other places. One day she makes a very interesting and accurate statement comparing wal-mart as a miny form of capitalism. A few days later she explains to a co-worker that she is going to quit because she cant afford to live off of a wal-mart salary. She also explains to melissa (the same co-worker above) about the book she is going to write about her experiances here.
The final chapter is just a summary of the book as a whole. Baraba gives herself a Bplus, and says she did pretty well with her project. In key west she earned $1,039 ut spends all but 22 dollars on necesitties. In Portland she earned approxiamantly $300 a week after taxes, and only spent 1480 dollars for rent. Finally in Minneapolis she earned $1120 a month before taxes. Unfortunately though since she was unable to find an apartment that whole month is to speculation.
